Breakfast Buffet??? Count me in, baby!
The Writer’s Bistro @ The Asheville Renaissance Hotel
Well, now that we’re Full of turkey and all other delightful Thanksgiving foods; let’s talk Breakfast. With many folks having family and friends coming into to town to visit this Holiday season, it’s the perfect time to talk about a great and not-so-well-known A.M. dining spot in downtown Asheville.
Often, around here, Sunday morning breakfast outings require patience, stamina, and not-so-hungry bellies due to the long lines or waits. And this is why my husband and I do not go out more often for breakfast/brunch. But, we recently jumped at an invitation to join friends at The Writer’s Bistro ~located inside the Renaissance Hotel~ and I was super excited to find out the restaurant offers a Full Breakfast Buffet! I’ve actually eaten here before, but as an overnight guest of the hotel. The idea that the Bistro is open to the public is obvious, but was unknown to me due to some personal and misplaced assumption.
The Writer’s Bistro offers a wonderful menu and 2 levels of breakfast buffets: The Full Breakfast @ $16 and The Continental @ $14. Prices include your choice of N/A beverage. And yes, Buffet = all you can eat. The Full Buffet offers your standard cereals, baked goods, bagels, fresh fruit, hot bar – including, bacon, sausage, eggs, grits, gravy, hash browns, and more- along with a made to order Omelet and Waffle station. Hello, Stuffing Myself! And because I could Not resist, I also indulged in a half order of the Green Tomato Eggs Benedict that highlighted a fried green tomato sandwiched between country ham and a perfectly cooked poached egg slathered in Hollandaise sauce. It. Was. Delicious!
And, the staff. Good night; with some of the service we experience or rather suffer through in Asheville, I have to say the wait-staff and service here are A+ !! No surprise, truly, as you are dining in the midst of the hospitality industry but, wow, I was taken aback. We completely enjoyed the affable yet impeccable and professional approach from the staff from the moment we walked in to paying our bill and departing. It’s nice to go somewhere and experience wait staff that actually seem Happy to be there working.
The décor of the Writer’s Bistro is contemporary, clean, and inviting. This is the Perfect spot for a business breakfast or lunch. So, as the Asheville Renaissance website states “Writer’s Bistro, features farm-to-table dining with a variety of local flavor and ingredients. Inspired by North Carolina’s rich literary history, the Writer’s Bistro offers a casual chic environment to enjoy a meal with the freshest ingredients.” Pretty much sums it up. I highly suggest you give it a try!
